Gloria D. (Shea) Palana, R.N., 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Bayberry Commons on October 12, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late John V. Palana for over 57 years. Born in Fall River, MA she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Abigail G. (Kingsley) Shea.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, Gloria graduated from St. Anne’s Nursing School in Fall River. She was a selfless caregiver and loved her career as a Registered Nurse at various hospitals, including 30+ years at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital before retiring when her days were kept busy with her grandchildrens' sports events, playing in the park or passing on her love of reading with story time at home or library.
She was a devoted and loving mother to four children, David and wife Kim, Bethany Norris and husband John, Darryl and wife Christine, and Tracy; four grandchildren, Hannah Shea LaRose, Abigail D. LaRose, Jack H. LaRose, Jacob V. Palana. She was the sister of the late Edward and Robert Shea and (grand)auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, October 16th from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00am in Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org).
